“Bauhaus Spirit: 100 Years of Bauhaus”
On May 30, AIA New York celebrates the 100th anniversary of Walter Gropius’s famed Bauhaus school and the larger social movement it inspired with a documentary film screening. Bauhaus Spirit explores the origins of the Bauhaus in its historical context, its vast influence on contemporary design, and its ultimate failure as a social utopia.

Weaving With Artist Jamie Boyle During MAD Studio Sundays
During Studio Sundays at the Museum of Arts and Design, artists-in-residence lead semi-structured, play-centered studio experiences for families with children ages 5 and up. The June 2 event will be a weaving workshop with multidisciplinary artist Jamie Boyle. Boyle’s primary focus at the moment is handwoven textile, and she will share that passion with families in a weaving game.

Future of Design NYC
This third annual Future of Design symposium will take place June 1 at the Educational Alliance’s Manny Cantor Center. The theme of the daylong event is “For the People,” and the goal is to spark discussion of how engineers, architects, artists, developers, entrepreneurs, policy-makers, and other professionals can use design-based action to improve life in the public and social spheres.
