| | Photo: Annie Schlechter | | When science journalist and author Rachel Nuwer and software entrepreneur Paul Dix first saw the penthouse atop a former noodle factory in Williamsburg, they found the views to be spectacular, but the surround of concrete pavers felt like a parking lot, according to Nuwer. And yet an oasis was in their future: They purchased the condo in 2019 and started working with Brooklyn Grange to install a green roof, which was completed before the lockdown in 2020. And as the flora and fauna continue to flourish and attract birds, bees, crickets, and earthworms, their rabbit rescues enjoy a little bit of paradise overlooking the Williamsburg Bridge. |
